Auburndale

Located in the western part of Newton, Auburndale is known for its beautiful parks and charming homes. The village is named after William Auburndale, a prominent businessman, and philanthropist. The area is split in two by the Massachusetts turnpike which provides easy access to the rest of Newton and downtown Boston. The Charles River also borders the neighborhood providing many options for recreation such as kayaking in the summer and ice skating in the winter. 

Chestnut Hill

This affluent village is home to Boston College and some of the most beautiful estates in the Boston area. The village is known for its grand homes and excellent shopping, as well as recreational areas such as Hammond Pond and the Chestnut Hill Reservoir. You can also take a step back in time and visit the Old Chesnut Hill Historic District with its beautiful homes and see why it is on the National Register of Historic Places. Newton Centre 

Located in the heart of Newton, the largest village is known for its vibrant downtown area and excellent restaurants. The village is also home to the city government and the Newton Centre Green Line station, which provides easy access to Boston. With its highly rated public schools and small-town feeling, this is a popular village for families as well. 

Newton Corner

This village is located just south of Mass Turnpike/Interstate 90, north of Commonwealth Avenue along Waverley Avenue. It is home to several historic buildings, including Durant-Kenrick House and Grounds, which was once a stop on the Underground Railroad. The village also provides close proximity to Newton Commonwealth Golf Course and has multiple commuting options to Boston. 

Newton Highlands

Located on both sides of route 9 in the southwestern part of Newton, this village is known for its beautiful neighborhoods and various shopping and restaurant choices. The village is also home to the Hyde Community Center, which offers a variety of programs for residents. There is currently a major mixed-use development project under construction along Needham Street in Newton Highlands/Newton Upper Falls. 

Newton Lower Falls 

This village is located in the southern part of Newton, near the Charles River. It is known for its historic mills and factories, some of which have been converted into apartments and condos.  The village is a convenient commuter location with access to several major thoroughfares. Also, enjoy easy access to the Leo J. Martin Memorial Golf Course which runs along both sides of the river. 

Newton Upper Falls 

Newton Upper Falls is home to several historic sites, including the Echo Bridge, which was once part of the Boston Aqueduct. The village is known for being quiet and picturesque with its tree-lined streets and family-friendly parks. There is currently a major mixed-use development project under construction along Needham Street in Newton Highlands/Newton Upper Falls. 

Newtonville

Located in the mid-central part of Newton, north of Newton Centre, this village is known for its diverse population and excellent schools. The village is also home to several historic sites, including the Jackson Homestead, which was once a stop on the Underground Railroad.  Newtonville is also home to Newton North High School, one of Newton’s two high schools. You can also visit the famous, family-owned Cabot’s Ice Cream and Restaurant which has operated in Newtonville since 1969. 

Nonantum 

This village is located north of the Mass Turnpike/Interstate 90 in the northeastern part of Newton. Nonantum has a vibrant commercial area and is known for its excellent restaurants and bakeries. In the village's early history, there was a popular lake known as Silver Lake which has now been lost to development and fill. However, even today the area is still often referred to as “the Lake.” 

Oak Hill 

This village is located in the southwestern part of Newton. It is home to The Charles River Country Club and several parks. The village is known for its beautiful homes and quiet streets making it a popular area for families. Oak Hill is also home to Newton South High School, one of two high schools in Newton, and the Mount Ida Campus of UMass Amherst. 

Thompsonville 

Located in the southeastern part of Newton, this village is located just west of the Chestnut Hill shopping areas and along Route 9. The village is also in close proximity to one of Newton’s two high schools, Newton South. Tucked between two conservation areas, Lost Pond and Webster, you will also feel as if you are among nature in this village. 

Waban 

Waban is located in the western part of Newton and is one of the larger villages. It is known for its beautiful homes, quiet residential areas, and easy commuting options. The Newton-Wellesley Hospital is also located here which is one of the larger medical facilities in the area. Also enjoy easy access to two golf courses in the village, the Woodland Golf Club and the Brae Burn Country Club.

West Newton 

This village is located in the western part of Newton. It is known for its charming downtown area and excellent restaurants. The village is also home to the West Newton Cinema, a popular movie theater that has been in operation since 1937. The West Newton Hills are known for beautiful, historic homes on larger lots with easy commuting options to Boston via the Mass Turnpike/Interstate 90. West Newton is also one of the oldest villages and is a National Register Historic District.
